Carlos P. Ragpala III: In Memoriam

Carlos Placencia Ragpala III

(1982-2009)

Carlos P. Ragpala III was not much of a sportsman, but he loved to play any sport or game for kicks. Perhaps the one sport he was really good at was badminton. But even at that, he still sucked against me, big time.

Now I’ll never know if there was neither any room for improvement nor whether or not I can teach him a thing or two. He died at the age of 26, a few hours after we watched the Pacquiao-Hatton fight on TV. It was May 3.

We knew his health was deteriorating after he was operated for gallstone in Iloilo City last February. He came home to us to recuperate but as time goes by, he was slowly inching his way out of this world. But that said, we really did not see death coming nor knocking on his door.

His heart failed him due to infections doctors could not locate and arrest.

His sudden demise left us hanging and created a void that can’t be filled. It is a fact that I, his younger brother, have to live with for the rest of my life.

I miss him so much.
